I neglected to blog — Reader, I apologize; I’ve been under water — my night of playing grown-up with Chris. We got all dudded up (we were very convincing!) and made our way through the sleet/snow to La Silhouette for dinner and then to the Met for Il Barbiere de Siviglia.
La Silhouette was lovely. Great service. Great food. Great wine. And they’ve done a nice job with the space. (It was also a particularly fortunate success as I made the daring (perhaps ill-calculated) decision to gamble on French-inspired restaurant… with my Frenchest American friend. Chris gives it a thumbs up.)
Isabel Leonard was enchanting as Rosina. (I thought she rather outshone everyone else, but the audience appeared quite fond of the Barber.) And the opera experience itself was enchanting. The people watching. The sets. The whole thing.
